Oh John Raible, you always nail it on the head. I can't wait until little babes is old enough to have conversations about your posts.
On Gotcha Day:
"Incidentally, don’t even get me started on 'Gotcha Day.' I can’t think of a more hurtful, insulting symbol of the pain of separation and loss that some adoptive parents have selfishly and insensitively turned into a celebration of their wish fulfillment through adoption. To me, “gotcha” is what you hear when your adversary suddenly surprises you with a mean-spirited trick or trap. And this expression is how adoptive parents choose to celebrate their success at becoming parents? But remember, language matters—and we can now analyze the real power behind the terms. “Gotcha Day” exists to satisfy parents’ need for approval and validation."
It is not okay that I have to HUNT for a story about the famine in East Africa. Hundreds of men, women and children are starving to death and I can't find news about it with out searching yet somehow The Bachelorette makes the front page of Yahoo News.
Because saying "I'm sorry" more than makes up for the comment, one of many from the GOP I might add.
Once again a nice way that the media skews their stories to make the youngest people of color look like thugs. They got busted this time but how many other times do they get away with it?
