Staycation All I Ever Wanted

We had the good fortune of getting to take time off of work at the end of August because Mr. Littles' day care had their Labor Day break for 5 days.

We had a BIG EVENT planned for each day.

On our first day, we went to Oaks Park Amusement Park. Little Babes earned a discounted ticket from the Multnomah County Library summer reading program.

He was NOT a fan of most of the rides. He did great on the merry go round and the ferris wheel. Part way through the tilt-spinning ride he got really quiet and then refused to ride anything other than the train. And by "refused" I mean crying, screaming fit of terror.

He also got his first real bike. He adores it, constantly wants to go on rides in the neighborhood and to the store.

For our second day, we had planned on going to the state fair but after nap time it was 4:00pm on the Friday of a holiday weekend. So we turned back off the highway and decided to camp out in the back yard instead. We made s'mores, ate outside, fell asleep in the tent. Unfortunately, the moon was so full and bright that at midnight Mr. Littles sat up and said, "Moon too bright my eyes!" So we ended up moving inside.

Saturday we met some friends at the Children's Museum during the morning.

Sunday we went to the Pirate Festival with our friends. There were balloon swords!

A man with an iguana on his head!

Watching a puppet show!

Monday we finally got to the state fair. He loved sitting on the tractors and was ecstatic about the petting zoo. He even squee'd a bit while watching the ladies on their horses giving a show.

It was a great, busy, tiring long weekend.
